When the Southern Pacific Railroad completed its route through the California desert more than 100 years ago, an oasis of palm trees, natural waterfalls and hot mine springs at the base of the mountain became accessible to travelers. The community is 120 miles from downtown Los Angeles, and was home to the Cahuilla Indians.

A source of drinking water for indigenous peoples of the past centuries was located at the foot of the now exclusive Two Bunch Palms Resort and Spa.

By the 1900’s people began coming to the area for care of asthmatic and respiratory care; a health -care boarding house was among its earliest ventures. In the 50’s and 60’s the year around population continued to grow and “the Springs” became a vacation respite for residents within a two hour freeway drive. The Coachella Valley is still one of the fast growing areas, and the Palm Springs Desert Resorts attract visitors from throughout the world.

Real estate in the Palm Desert's mix includes everything from multi-million-dollar homes and estates to smaller, starter homes, and conventional apartments. The City of Palm Desert, has been rated one of the safest cities in Southern California.
